TopShelf Indie Book Cover Awards - Guidelines & Rules

(Does Not Apply to the Indie Book Awards)

  1. Cost of entry is $50 per book cover.
  2. There are no limits on publication date, only that the cover image being supplied must be the actual cover displayed on a book that is available for purchase at one or more major online and/or brick-and-mortar booksellers.
  3. There is no limit to how many book-covers an author, publisher, or publicist can enter in any given contest period.
  4. There is no limit to how often an author, publisher, or publicist can submit a book cover; however, once a cover wins, that same book cover cannot be entered again for at least 12 months.
  5. Book covers cannot contain any profanity, nudity, or depict drug use or any other material that could be considered offensive to a family audience.
  6. The deadline for entry in each month's contest is the last day of each month. Results will be announced in the next issue to be published following the close of the contest.
  7. There are two winners selected each month, Fiction and Non-fiction.
  8. If there are not at least two submissions in a category, there will be no winner selected for that category, and the singular submission will carry over to the next month's contest until there is a winner selected.
  9. All entries submitted within a specific month will remain on display until the winners are announced either in the following issue of TopShelf Magazine, online, and/or via email.
  10. Entries do not carry over to the next month's contest unless there is no competing submission (see #8).
  11. Each monthly winner will receive a prize package valued at $1,000 USD, including a 1/6-page book promo, designed by TopShelf, run in an upcoming issue of TopShelf Magazine, plus, 30 days of social media promotions.
  12. All winners will be announced publically at as well as via email and social media.
  13. Book covers are judged on their merits by the highly experienced team of TopShelf contributors, editors, and reviewers. While the votes and ratings on each book may have a limited impact on the outcome of each contest, it is NOT the definitive way winners are selected. The primary way that votes and ratings may affect an outcome is by breaking a tie that may result after our judges have come to their conclusions.

This contest is currently closed for submissions.
